Minutes of the emergency meeting of 5/1/17
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Kenn Basler, Chairperson, Steve Weisz and Carol Edelman
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
- Don Torrico stopped in and informed the Board that the new cell tower permit cannot be currently issued as they have not submitted a new bond. Kenn said that Verizon is interested in both towers and he has a meeting with them next week and will mention this.
- Today’s emergency meeting is to discuss the abrupt resignation (for personal and professional reasons) of the Treasurer. The Board agreed in hindsight that the letters given to the Clerk and Treasurer regarding their positions on the ballot should have been handed to each in person. A board member is going to contact her. The Board discussed temporary options and decided to hire Baystate Municipal Accounting Services currently doing our accounting to perform the Treasurer duties as an interim solution until a permanent solution is found. DOR was consulted to make sure this was legal and it is since separate employees of Baystate would be doing the 2 jobs. The Board also unanimously appointed Anne Marie Enoch as the Assistant Treasurer to be a signer on all the bank accounts. M. Noe will process
payroll until a permanent solution is found.
- A Board member will follow up with the Clerk about the additional hours she has submitted and the policy for requesting additional hours.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 9:40am
